The RSA now require each fleet / vehicle owner to provide evidence that adequate maintenance systems are in use, The RSA have said that they intend to ensure that maintenance standards are improved.
An increase in accidents involving commercial vehicles, recent prosecutions in the UK and other countries of Irish hauliers driving poorly maintained vehicles are the reasons cited by the RSA for this initiative.
Inspections will take place at the operator’s premises, maintenance standards provided in-house or by contract will be scrutinized to ensure that vehicles are maintained to a high standard.

The standard of maintenance and inspections, the frequency, the documentary record systems are just some of the items that we focus on.
